MARJORIE BELLE RUSSELL (nee EDMONDS) April 12, 1932 - October 24, 2011 At 12:55 a.m., Monday October 24, 2011 Marge Russell lost her long, courageously fought battle with cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend of 60 years, Ken Russell, her three children Bev (Bob) Killbery, Cheryl Russell, David Russell. Also left to miss her are grandchildren Michael Killbery, Jenny (Jay) Collins, Danica (Mark) DeSouza, Carling Middlestead and Nikki Russell, as well as three great-grandchildren, Olivia Collins, Selena and Andrew DeSouza. Born in Winnipeg Manitoba to Bob and Lillian Edmonds, Marge took every opportunity to make the best of each day, no matter where she was. She met life with a smile and faced whatever was laid in front of her with a positive outlook. Her 20 years at the K-Mart Crestview store were dedicated to customer service in the Domestics department, allowing her to use her expertise in sewing and needlework. An accomplished seamstress, she also won recognition and awards for her needlework and crocheting at several venues with many first, second, third place ribbons. Artistically she mastered ceramics and created beautifully crafted pieces for family and friends, made stunning needlepoint pictures, embroidered quilts and intricate tablecloths. She enjoyed her weekly nights at Bingo, as well as being involved at the Royal Canadian Legion #4. Marge was active with the Line dancers and performed for various functions. As a member of the Over 55 Club she made many close and long term friendships. Known for her generosity and willingness to assist those who needed help, she was everyone's favourite hairdresser, seamstress, cook, Mom and Grandma. Affectionately known under several monikers, she was Marge, Bid, Biddy, Auntie Bobo and Grandma Russell. Everyone was special and she will be sadly missed in all the lives of those blessed to have known her. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Drs. Harris, Breckman and Hartley for the care Marge received over the last several years. Also, the family would like to pass on a special thank you to the compassionate and caring staff at the Grace Hospice for preserving Marjorie's dignity and peace through her time there. A celebration of Marge's life will be held on Friday, November 18, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4 at 1755 Portage Avenue from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome. Private interment will take place at Chapel Lawn on Saturday, November 19. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marge's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0V9. Arrangements are being handled by Chapel Lawn.

  • Grandma, you were always there for me. Whenever I needed to talk you always had an ear to bend. You were my voice of reason when I couldn't figure it out for myself and I will never forget it. I miss you every day and love you so much. - Posted by: Michael Killbery (Grandson) on: Oct 03, 2012
